A combination of probe holder and laser navigation

چکیده
To the Editor, Recently, opportunities for ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve block have been increasing. It is difficult for beginners, and sometimes even for skilled persons, to visualize the needle during the procedure due to the narrow width of the ultrasonic beam. There have been several reports of attempting easy visualization of the needle, for example, with the use of a needle guide [1–3] or laser navigation [4]. However, it is difficult for a single operator, with only two hands available, to perform the different maneuvers, namely, holding a probe, manipulating the needle, and injecting the anesthetic, simultaneously. Herein, we describe a method for undertaking all of the three aforementioned procedures simultaneously using a probe holder, in addition with laser navigation which visualizes easily the needle by adjusting the needle body to the laser (Fig. 1a). The fixed probe makes it possible for a person to inject the anesthetic agent and insert a catheter alone. Furthermore, the laser navigation helps to pay attention to the plane of the ultrasound beam. We used the probe holder previously developed by us for a linear probe (S-Nerve HFL50x/15-6, FUJIFILM Medical Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). This device is consisting of three parts, the flexible arm (Flexible arm, PROKIZAI.COM Co., Ltd., Naha, Japan), the probe holder, and the laser module (Line laser module, Denshi Tusho Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). The laser navigation and the probe

CT-guided laser probe for ablation of brain tumors
In this study, 22 patients (15-75 years old) were selected and transferred to CT scan for tumor ablation. For ablations, after prep and drep under the local anesthesia and mild sedation in proper position, small incision made and special needle inserted and guided by proper direction to the core of the tumor. Then, laser probe inserted through the needle and laser energy delivered. Although we ...

متن کاملOptical Opacity of Laser Induced Plasma in Distilled Water with NaCl and TiO2 Nanoparticles Impurities
In this paper, the dynamic behavior of laser induced optical breakdown in impure water was studied by using a pump- probe technique. The plasma was induced by a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser pulse (with pulse duration ~10 ns) in distilled water with two types of impurities: (I) a solution (highly diluted salt water as a conductor) and (II) a colloidal (TiO2 in colloidal nanoparticle form as a dielectric...
متن کاملTip sensor probe for changing refractive index measurement in small volumes
In this paper, a tapered tip optical fiber probe sensor for localized refractive index (RI) measurements is presented. This sensor’s interaction with analytes is confined to a few micro-meters which makes it a promising candidate for in-vivo or even intra-cellular RI monitoring. This tapered tip was simply fabricated by etching optical fiber with hydrofluoric acid to a conic shape with a sub-m...
متن کاملPerformance Modeling of Ring Laser Gyro in Inertial
In this paper, the performance of a Ring Laser Gyro based inertial navigation is investigated. Dynamic and stochastic modeling are applied to gyro simulation and performance evaluation. In the dynamic model, some parameters such as scale factor and environmental sensitivity have been determined, whereas in the stochastic model, the other parameters such as random drift and measurement noise...
